I've been doing tarot for the past handful of months and have developed a deep love for cartomancy. I believe that each indivdual holds the answers to their problems within themselves; failing to realize those answers is what stops us from being our best selves.
For me, tarot helps me hone in on the problems and answers that I already know, but just can't understand how to make it make sense. It provides a clear map that I can record and trace, and by doing tarot readings for at least each major moon phase (first quarter, full moon, last quarter, new moon), you can get a pretty good weekly summary of where your head is at and what you should be focusing on.
If we think of the phases of the moon as the seasons, the first quarter is Spring, which brings fresh life and new beginnings. The full moon is Summer, a time of intense passion and wild energies. The last quarter is Autumn, where that energy matures and maintains a comfortable tempo. Then, finally, the new moon is Winter, where energy becomes dormant and nature falls into a lull as it builds energy for the next cycle.
Combining tarot and the moon's phases can provide a healthy, upbeat cadence. With the moon's phases turning about once a week, you get a week at a time to raise energy, take action, reflect and unwind, and then begin to raise energy again. It's a natural rhythm that requires no special tools or methods for tracking; you can look up in the sky on any given clear night and have a good idea of where you should be at!
